Passing Me By (National Poetry Writing Month 2026 #25)   Leave a comment

I feel the world passing me by
One day I fear I'll be alone
No matter how I beg and cry
I feel the world passing me by
There is no point in asking why
Or if my fears are overblown
I feel the world passing me by
One day I fear I'll be alone

Time Slips (National Poetry Writing Month 2026 #24)   Leave a comment

My time slips away
Shifting and ethereal
Evading my grasp
Moments turn to memory
Cascading through my fingers

I Don’t Really Know (National Poetry Writing Month 2026 #23)   Leave a comment

I don't really know
If I found the right question
Or if the world's laws
Are only just suggestions
But when somebody mentions
Any of the flaws
It comes to my attention
I don't really know

Earworm (National Poetry Writing Month 2026 #22)   Leave a comment

This melody is digging
So deeply in my brain
But I don't know the title
It's driving me insane

I feel so very restless
I must hear it again
Just once more catch this earworm
To free me from this pain

Tech Upgrade (National Poetry Writing Month 2026 #21   Leave a comment

Nothing beats a tech upgrade
Time for the shiny and new!
Financial mistakes were made
But still I adore the view
It was a little early
And the old one worked just fine
I loved my old phone dearly
But this new one is divine!

Lazy Day (National Poetry Writing Month 2026 #19)   Leave a comment

Just a nice, lazy day
Nothing I need to do
I can just close my eyes
And recuperate

Blinks (National Poetry Writing Month 2026 #18)   Leave a comment

Time is a bunch of blinks
Converting into memories
Up to the day
The memories no longer save
And you blink one last time

Scatter Brain (National Poetry Writing Month 2026 #16)   Leave a comment

Scatter brain every day
To feed my thought chickens
Then I go grab
The lightbulbs they laid
To make some farm fresh ideas
Or maybe a nice scramble

Of Love (National Poetry Writing Month 2026 #15)   Leave a comment

In a cold night's sleep, I dreamed of love
Truly, I know so little of love

An infant safe in a parent's arms
For the first time, feels the warmth of love

A bride, clad in a brilliant white
Smiles as she makes a vow of love

A man stands in front of a cold slab
Weeping, knowing the absence of love

A cat curls up in a child's lap
Vibrates to the frequency of love

The life leaks out from the young man's wrist
The water red, the color of love

A crooner sings a sweet melody
Bodies sway to the rhythm of love

Some day, as I tread along this path
I'll find my understanding of love

Will You Lay Down (National Poetry Writing Month 2026 #12)   Leave a comment

Will you lay down
And make yourself comfortable?
Will you lay down
Instead of scratching up my gown?
I know my flesh feels unstable
But I'm human, not a table!
Will you lay down?
