My Shift (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #30)   Leave a comment

I'm an ethereal pilot
Controlling a puppet made of meat
A puppet made of me
And my experiences

It's form may change
And degrade with time
But I'll stay at the controls
Until my shift ends.

Shower Thoughts (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #29)   Leave a comment

The falling water
Cascades down
Washing away grime

Relaxing peaceful
Pitter pat
As my mind rains down

Finally, a splash
Shower thoughts
Ripple out pristine

What if? (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #28)   Leave a comment

What if I could see my whole life
Laid like branches in front of me?
Would I be the type of person
Who prunes my leaves aggressively?
Or would I let them grow or die,
Whatever fits my destiny?
I guess that I will never know,
As now is all we're meant to see.

Musings (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #27)   Leave a comment

The snowflake dances within my mind
Relaxing in the summer sun, my thoughts melt away.

The sound of your laughter echoing
Ringing through all the empty spaces you left behind

I am contained in a pane of class
My self image a reflection of those around me

Time marches on at a steady pace
The destination keeps moving closer and closer

Skull Raid (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #26)   1 comment

Oh no! A skull raid!
A pillage of my ideas
Thought has gone missing
Nothing left to do but sleep
New thoughts will be drawn from dreams

Spider (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #25)   Leave a comment

Today I saw a gigantic spider
Making a journey up my trembling arm
Now I have an unexpected rider
I really hope that it means me no harm

It froze in place once I started moving
The moment tense as we met eye to eyes
It's countenance seem quite disapproving
And no doubt it was planning my demise

Then my hand moved over to the paper
I brought it forth and asked him to hop on
My friend decided to end the caper
I let it out; in a flash it, was gone.

I hope my friend, the spider, will not deign
To grace my house with his presence again

Framework (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #24)   Leave a comment

We are built from memories.
Some are like mist, some crystal clear.
Smell or taste, a pleasant breeze.
Tears, or the song of a loved one.
Forgotten, just as easily.
But their absence is our framework.

Loyalty (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #23)   Leave a comment

Friends' loyalty is important.
Most people better themselves;
Finding they value true friends with virtues.
With friends' true value,
They find themselves better people.
Most important is loyal friends.

Ripple of Fate (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #22)   Leave a comment

The ripples
Of all our actions
Crash and break
Patterns form
Beyond the comprehension
Of our mortal minds

The world spins
Twirling strings of lives
Bound firmly
Together
We can't break their hold on us
With our mortal hands

Fate engulfs
Paths already walked
Steps taken
All foretold
Destiny predetermined
For simple mortals

Divination (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #21)   Leave a comment

I engage in divination
To find the greatest parts of me
Stuck in endless rumination
Examining the flaws I see
Building up all this frustration
Why can't I find the missing key?
To end my incarceration
And find the will to live life free
