Dream (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #16)   Leave a comment

Even when wide awake
I am still dreaming
My thoughts floating
Drift lazily
Colors
Peace

Reckless Abandon (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #15)   Leave a comment

With reckless abandon,
I threw away my most important things
Without a thought.

Now, with a clearer head,
I can no longer function as I need;
I'm lesser now.

But, since time flows onward,
I cannot return to a greener past;
They can't come back.

I shoulder my failure.
I'll endure, and hopefully with hard work,
I will get through.

Spiraling (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #14)   Leave a comment

Close my eyes to cry
Drifting down in my spiral
Self-consuming void

Inevitable (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #13)   Leave a comment

What doesn't kill you
Just delays the inevitable
We are all dying
Only the rate of decay changes
Since we all share the same destined end
Of stillness and dust
We should try to live every day
Like it is our last

Indecision (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #12)   Leave a comment

This indecision
Has me ensnared in a vice
Heists my attention
I know the longer I wait
The harder to make a choice

Conversation Is Molden (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #11)   Leave a comment

Conversation is molden.
Stale and overgrown,
It hasn't changed in months.
Showing signs of rot,
Stiff with rigor mortis,
It's time for us to move on.

Sitting in silence
Meaningful conversation
Spoken with no sound

Color (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #9)   Leave a comment

While I watch, the world is burning.
I am filled with craving, yearning,
For a respite where I can just be me.

No, I did not choose to be this;
This shade of paint on the canvas.
So why can't you just let my color be?

Whitewash away the different,
Destroy what you call aberrant,
Erase the colors you don't wish to see.

If you crave only monochrome
Then march me to my catacomb.
At least, in death, I'll finally be free.

Beauty (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #8)   Leave a comment

My thoughts are enveloped in a sea of beauty.
My eyes fall upon your visage: a true beauty.

As winds inevitably wear away the stone,
Time wears away at life's ethereal beauty.

As a photograph snapshots a moment in time,
My memory encapsulates all your beauty.

At the end, in the final gasp of the dying
We find a melancholic moment of beauty.

In this tempestuous screaming match with my love
I'm burned by a blistering, passionate beauty.

As long as I have drive to continue forward
I will fight endlessly to protect all beauty.

I Don’t (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #7)   Leave a comment

I don't feel like doing much of anything today.
I don't feel like doing much of anything today.
I don't feel like doing anything.
I don't feel like anything
I don't feel anything.
I don't feel.
I don't.
I.
