– Shaman Romney 2021Tension builds
As the post is turned
Strings are plucked
Tunings set
A flourish of notes to check
The music beginsThe girl plays
A nice, simple tune
Of times past
Bittersweet
Awash in the memories
Of a better lifeThe song ends
Coins clink in the jar
The thank yous
And praise comes
The girl dons a sad smile
As she starts againHours pass
As strangers walk by
Few see her
Less listen
But music and money made
Is a day well spent

Breath: A Fib (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #8) Leave a comment
Life
Breath
I gasp
The light blinds
The air rushes in
I cry defiance to the worldI relax and breathe out relief
As time slips away
The light dims
I sigh
Breath
Life

Fooled (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #7) Leave a comment
Fooled into believing
You’re the one deceiving
The devil in your personal hellPlayed you like a fiddle
Trapped you in his riddle
Worst of all is you will never knowSo onwards you will scream
Trapped inside of your dream
As a puppet stuck making a showWhat is saddest of all
When your death comes to call
You will dance gleefully to your hell

Mists: A Ketek (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #6) Leave a comment
Unwinding souls resting in memory;
Silent dreams of forgotten words.
The mist rises
By obscuring truth.
Obscured by rising mists,
The words forgotten;
Of dreams;
Silent memories in rest.
Souls unwound.

Without You (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #5) Leave a comment
In dreams, I hear you call to me
Awake, I watch you leave.
And so all day,
I pass away
In silence as I grieveThe memories still comfort me
Your absence breaks my heart
And so I cry,
And slowly die,
Each day we are apart.I feel your warmth embracing me
But then the chill draws near
I feels so cold,
I feel so old,
Each year you aren’t here.Until the day your next to me
And through each day your gone
I’ll think of you
In all I do
And try to carry on.

Free (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #4) Leave a comment
Another lie lays on its side
And hears the truths that I confide.
Alone, in my protective shell,
Protected by the lies I tell.
Within it’s walls, I can be me
And show the truths I long to be.Until it’s time to step outside.
Until it’s time, once more, to hide.
I’ll bring my masks and lies to sell
Day after day, and do it well.
Present this stoic face you see
Keep myself under lock and key.Day in, day out, just like the tide,
I’ll keep my true self deep inside.
But when I sit alone and dwell
And hide from interpersonal hell.
I’ll float in my internal sea;
Among it’s waves, I can be free.

Morning Shower (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #3) Leave a comment
Wash away the dreams and nightmares,
And soak in the morning warmth.
Scrub your mind with idle thoughts
And condition yourself to new possibilities.
Rinse away your fears,
Pat dry your worries,
And start of your day right

Choices: A Ketek (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #2) Leave a comment
Decidedly,
I find myself pondering
Choices.
Pondering my self,
I found I decided.

Praxis (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #1) Leave a comment
No poetry this month
I think I've writ enough
I think I'll do my taxes,
and other boring stuff
Thats just the thing I'd say
Since there is no other way
To exercise some praxis
On this April Fool's day.
