Choices: A Ketek (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #2)   Leave a comment

Decidedly,
I find myself pondering
Choices.
Pondering my self,
I found I decided.

Which hat should I wear today? (National Poetry Writing Month 2020 #5)   Leave a comment

Which hat should I wear today?
Which role should I try to play?
The person you want to see?
Or the one that’s really me?
Should I don the bright smile?
Or the smirk full of guile?
Face turned up in full surprise?
Or a twinkle in my eyes?
I have many masks, you know
Many that I choose to show.
Which I share and which I hide
That is for me to decide.

Two Choices (National Poetry Writing Month 2019 #10)   Leave a comment

Are you insignificant?
Unimportant, on your own?
Just a single tiny speck
In a universe unknown?

Or are you instead a node
Interwoven with us all?
Bearing your part of the load,
Sending ripples when you fall?

Does nothing in life matter?
Or do all our actions count?
Do all our choices scatter,
Regardless of the amount?

Make your choice and live with it,
Whichever one that may be.
For you, either one may fit;
I know the right choice for me.

Decisions (National Poetry Writing Month 2018 #30)   Leave a comment

I’m staring out at my future
And I’m full of indecision.
Caught between doing what is right
And what is convenient for me.

The right is a road untraveled,
Unpaved, unknown, and uncertain.
It frightens me with possibility
With the difficult path it promises.

The left is a well paved road.
Well intentioned and familiar bricks;
A path inviting me tread upon it,
Easy and lacking any challenge.

I see the choice laid out before me.
The best in me knows the hard path is best
But inside I know I, most likely,
I will choose the path of least resistance.
