To Be Decided (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #30)   Leave a comment

We all have some thoughts
Desires and dreams we leave
To be decided
But we should not wait too long
Or else time decides for us

Ash (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #29)   Leave a comment

We burn to ash
Like the head of a cigarette
How fast we burn
Depends on how much we breathe in
A deep long drag
Gives a rush that ends too quickly
Taking it slow
Gives calmer, longer enjoyment
With either choice Eventually the flame runs out

Intent (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #28)   Leave a comment

With intent, creation ignites
Blossoming new joyous wonders
All things grow from desires
From miracles to dynasties
With no spark, flames may keep burning
But nothing new lives without us

Smooth Brain (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #27)   Leave a comment

Empty mind has been scrubbed clean
Polished to a mirror sheen
Brain so smooth the thoughts slide off
To the inspiration trough
For the lesser brains to eat
Wrinkly, gross; they can't compete.
Vapid thoughts are great for me.
Worries gone, my mind is free!

Distracted (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #26)   Leave a comment

It's easy to get
Distracted
From what should matter

Just stare at your phone
On the couch
Fall into the void

Or just close your eyes
And drift off
Floating in your mind

Just anything else
Other than
The things that matter

Yawning (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #25)   Leave a comment

Yawning, my eyes drift closed
As I greet the night.
Do nightmares await me?
Or sweet pleasant dreams?
Or will there be nothing
Until I wake up?
No point in wondering;
I'll know tomorrow.

Crown (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #24)   Leave a comment

Heavy is the crown
That sits upon my tooth.
Temporary it may be,
But my tooth has a decree:
"Verily, this land will be cleansed!
Brushed with mint scented clouds,
Washed in blue floods of rain,
And ropes dragged through the streets!"
I acquiesce to his demands,
As I prefer a single monarch
With only a single crown.

Inspiration Leaves (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #23)   Leave a comment

Inspiration leaves
As quick as it arrives
So I try to grab a hold
And hope it survives
I hope it's enough
For when life deprives
'Cause my energy's low
And I'm out of revives
As my bad luck schemes
And my writer's block connives
I'll just use what I've got
And continue to strive

Contrast (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #22)   Leave a comment

Time flies by so fast
Eye-blink by eye-blink
I feel the days, the years, the months go by
But it also feels as if time drags on
Second by second
Moments never end

Memories get jumbled
Moment by moment
Until I can't tell my dreams from my past
But they also are defined in crystal
Facet by facet
Reflecting my life

Life is a contrast
Color by color
A whirling storm of endless potential
Until, as it must, it finally calms
Raindrop by raindrop
Meeting the same end

Respite (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #21)   Leave a comment

Taking a deep breath
A long awaited respite
Something sorely missed
A simple walk with a friend
Just like the many before
