Lines (National Poetry Writing Month 2024 #26)   Leave a comment

One by one
Stand in line
Patiently waiting our turn
Check the phone
Loose a sigh
Patiently waiting our turn
Thinking thoughts
Dreaming dreams
Patiently waiting our turn
All our life
Spent in lines
Patiently waiting our turn

Cracks (National Poetry Writing Month 2024 #25)   Leave a comment

I don't know if I can be
The person you want
I'm only a shell
A thin layer of Shellac
You like what you see for now
But at the first bump
The cracks will appear
And you'll see what lies within
See the empty windswept void
Haunted with the shades
And empty eyed souls
That make up the space within
Please recoil in horror
Run away from me
Find someone normal
I don't mind, I understand
Memories of us together
Will stay forever
Ghastly, pale, alone
'Til the next time a crack forms

Drifting (National Poetry Writing Month 2024 #24)   Leave a comment

Shock comes from my corner eye
I'm dreaming of a blue sky
But distortion overrides my view

Panic starts to crush my chest
Joy and calm are now oppressed
I drift higher to that sky of blue

In this clear blue sky I flow
Leaving fear and dread below
My body has done all it could do

Soon, I'll leave this world of ours
Drift among the sea of stars
Finally, my journey starts anew

Nihility (National Poetry Writing Month 2024 #23)   Leave a comment

Affix the mind on nothing
Using missing screws
Let your mind wander
Until it's finally lost
Drift, and cease to drift
In the never ending void
Forget your life's purpose
Discard all you hold dear
For in true nothingness
You will discover everything

Porcelain (National Poetry Writing Month 2024 #22)   Leave a comment

I am a broken porcelain vase
Each shattered piece carefully resting in its right place
Loosely held together by some glue
Doing my best impersonation of something new
But year over year, and crack by crack
I lose a little more of myself I won't get back
One day there will be so little left
My pieces all eroded, and my true self bereft
The vase is no more, no longer me
I'm the porcelain and lacquer washed away in the sea

Destruction (National Poetry Writing Month 2024 #21)   Leave a comment

Destruction is part of life;
One that we all deal with someday.
Possessions, our intentions,
Our cherished ones, and then ourselves.
But also our difficulties.
Through destruction we all grow.

Diabolical (National Poetry Writing Month 2024 #20)   Leave a comment

There is nothing like
Having a day full of things
You really wanted to get done
Only to have them
So ruthlessly thwarted
By the truly diabolical creature
Who is currently purring
Contentedly on my lap

River (National Poetry Writing Month 2024 #19)   Leave a comment

It's nice sometimes
To lay back
And float along
The river of my mind
Memories lapping my feet
Dreams shimmering below
Letting my thoughts
Pull me further downstream

Ritual (National Poetry Writing Month 2024 #18)   Leave a comment

Whirling magic subsumes my mind and soul
Fractals and phantasms flying past me
Dulcet tones of infinity ringing
As the everything opens before me
I am you, we are her, and she is all
I am a newborn and an ancient crone
The rocks and the trees breathe deep my essence
Bathing in the divine and mystical
Before I depart true reality
Retaining the indelible markings
Of the cosmos and universe itself

Masks (National Poetry Writing Month 2024 #17)   Leave a comment

We all wear masks of ourselves
Carried with us from birth 'til death.
Some carry just a few masks,
Others carry far too many.
What if we dropped them on the ground,
Bathing the world in our truth?
