Hesitation, Determination (Double Elevenie) (National Poetry Writing Month 2017 #23)   Leave a comment

Baited breath
An anxious mind
Worry over potential loss

Steeled resolve
A confident stride
Living for life’s victories

March (National Poetry Writing Month 2017 #22)   Leave a comment

March for science in April
Maybe you’ll be heard in June
If you lie in July about your motives
Then disgust will be heard in August
You can wake me up when September ends
If you solved the problem in October
I’m sure I will know in November
Or December will will be colder than
Last year in January
In February someone will get the grand idea
To March for science in April
Maybe you’ll be heard

“Fun” Poem (National Poetry Writing Month 2017 #21)   Leave a comment

I want to write a fun poem
But I don’t know if I can
With fun words; I don’t know ’em
Maybe I should make a plan?

Except every time I try to
My thoughts are pulled astray
They make me want to cry, too
In a most depressing way

I’d love to just be happy
I try, but I just can’t
The world can be so crappy
All I want to do is rant

Will I regain some sanity?
Well, one coud only hope
But if your asking me?
The answer is a simple “nope.”

Just Don’t Punch People, Okay? (Explicit) (National Poetry Writing Month 2017 #20)   Leave a comment

Don’t be surprised when someone dies
Because you started saying violence is fine from your side
It’s not their fault anymore, its yours
You made your movement rot to the core

You called their thoughts violence
So you could turn your thoughts violent
So you you could sit back in silence
While your friends act violent
Thinking “I would never try it.”
But you would if you could
Get past your cowardice, your avarice

You sycophantic piece of shit
You make me want to fucking quit
I hate that I care so much
I hate it, I’m aware too much
I hate you and I want to punch you lights out
This anger is too much

But I’ll be a better person than you
I care about the people
And there’s nothing I could possibly do
Worse than what you keep doing to yourself
I’ll fight with words, to fight your words
To fight your war, to fight your hate
To fight for love, for acceptance, for peace

Be glad for people like me
Be glad I’m your opponent
‘Cause I may shoot off at the mouth
But the people you fuck with?

Today is a punch
Tomorrow’s a knife
The next is a gun
The end of your life
And you may blame them.
But I don’t give a shit.
Because they may be the finish
But you started it.

And when the deaths start tolling
I’ll cry for both sides
I’ll mourn for us all

Because our country has died.

Punch (National Poetry Writing Month 2017 #19)   1 comment

It starts with the balls of your feet
Tough from walking on the street
Tough from carrying the weight of the world
Then it moves from your knees to your hips
As experience slips
From the beginning to your prime of your life
From your hips to your chest
‘Cause you’re giving it your best
Its your one shot, gotta make this chance count
Make your arm shoot forward
As you keep moving forward
To meet the goal you’ve been fighting for all this time
Finally ending at your fist
All this energy exists
For the moment that you finally decide to

WW3 (National Poetry Writing Month 2017 #18)   Leave a comment

We won’t know when world war three will hit
Until we are knee deep in shit,
Dragging ourselves through it
We don’t know how it will start
But we all will play a part
Whether its through politics or Walmart
And I’m afraid my own sanity
Afraid for friends and family
Afraid for what this world will be
But I’ll try to believe in my fellow man
Try to do the best I can
And hope someone has a better plan.

I’m Done (National Poetry Writing Month 2017 #17)   Leave a comment

I’m done with the world
I’m done with battle lines
I’m done with black and white
I’m done with death and destruction
I’m done with wrongs unpunished
I’m done with good gone wrong
I’m done with good intention roads
I’m done with well intentioned fools
I want to be done caring
But I can’t help it
