Disappear (National Poetry Writing Month 2024 #6)   Leave a comment

Without you I can't breathe,
But you've cut off my oxygen.
My thoughts revolve around you;
So why did you disappear?

I'm only half a person
When you're not here with me.
I stumble around, incomplete
When, again, you disappear.

Desperately I cry for you,
"Please don't leave me alone!"
I'm frightened by this future
Where you really disappear.

You are the reason I exist;
The purpose in my life.
If you no longer call me yours
I know I'll disappear.

Please don't walk away from me.
Don't take away my self.
Without you, I'm a fading dream
Without you, I will disappear.

Survivor’s Lament (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #12)   Leave a comment

In the mirror, all I see
A ghastly shade stares back at me
Haunted eyes, of hate and scorn
In their depths a love forlorn

Ghosts of memories come again
Where once was joy, now only pain
Years of torture, cries I've wailed
Grim reminders of those I've failed

Demons in bottles and needle points
Try as I may, it all disappoints
Through all my lies, I know you're gone
Unjust as it is, I still live on

Without You (National Poetry Writing Month 2021 #5)   Leave a comment

In dreams, I hear you call to me
Awake, I watch you leave.
And so all day,
I pass away
In silence as I grieve

The memories still comfort me
Your absence breaks my heart
And so I cry,
And slowly die,
Each day we are apart.

I feel your warmth embracing me
But then the chill draws near
I feels so cold,
I feel so old,
Each year you aren’t here.

Until the day your next to me
And through each day your gone
I’ll think of you
In all I do
And try to carry on.
