Sea Of Diamonds (Salt Lake Speaks ver.)   Leave a comment

I woke to a sea of diamonds
On a dark velvet veil
Their beauty was a sight to behold

Because each glistening diamond
Is a story of passion
A tale just begging to be told

I woke to a sea of diamonds
On a dark velvet veil
Their brilliance was unabating

Because each glistening diamond
Is a beckoning siren
And each song truly captivating

I woke to a sea of diamonds
On a dark velvet veil
Each shimmer, a memory I'll keep

Because each glistening diamond
Is a warm woolen blanket
As I finally drift back to sleep

P.S: Salt Lake Speaks was a poetry event I participated in in September 2025. I am posting the poems I read as I may have made minor changes and corrections to the original poem. Original here.

Yawning (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #25)   Leave a comment

Yawning, my eyes drift closed
As I greet the night.
Do nightmares await me?
Or sweet pleasant dreams?
Or will there be nothing
Until I wake up?
No point in wondering;
I'll know tomorrow.

Dream (National Poetry Writing Month 2025 #16)   Leave a comment

Even when wide awake
I am still dreaming
My thoughts floating
Drift lazily
Colors
Peace

Hazy Day Dream (National Poetry Writing Month 2022 #28)   Leave a comment

I'm dreaming the day away
'Cause I've got nothing important to say to you
So we'll follow routine like we always do
I'll just follow you

Time ticks on to more of the same
There is nobody to blame but me
So I'll sit in my head like I always do
I'll just follow you

This world doesn't mean that much to me
I'd rather stay inside my hazy day dream

The day was bright and full of sun
I wish I could go out and have a little fun
That's not something that you want to do
I'll just follow you

There isn't much to do inside
But the confines of my mind are great for hiding me
So I'll hang out here like I always do
I'll just follow you

The world doesn't mean that much to me
I'd rather stay inside my hazy day dream

Dream Big   1 comment

I need my biggest dreams
To be my fondest memories.
I want my life to put my death to shame.
I don’t want my last refrain
To be one of regret, one of disdain.
I want my legacy to be something unfathomable,
Something no one has ever thought of,
The answer to a question we don’t know to ask yet.

I can’t convince myself to accept anything less.
Unless I meet my higher standard,
I do not deserve to stand with pride.
I cannot understand a half placed effort,
Being comforted with less than perfection
Is a perfect misdirection of your true purpose:
To leave a permanent mark on the world
And better it for your fellow man.
