Fast (National Poetry Writing Month 2016 #11)   Leave a comment

I need to go fast
I need to go empty
I need to go without
And use what’s within me

I need to go fast
I need to go quickly
I need to go forward
Without doubt or hesitation

I need to go fast
I need to go fast

I need to go fast
I need to go hungry
I need to go starve
Until I’m weak and slow

I need to go fast
I need to go zero to sixty
I need to go breakneck
Until I’m out of gas

I need to go fast
I need to go fast

Spaced out, between thoughts
Something important to do
Almost forgotten.

Empty (National Poetry Writing Month #11)   Leave a comment

I’m a man who is empty.
I have had everything
Pulled out of me.
Some of it,
My Heart,
I gave willingly.
Most of it,
My Blood,
My Tears,
My Soul,
Were taken forcefully.
Now I stand here
Devoid of love,
of life,
of hope.
Now I have nothing.
I am a man who is empty.
