My thoughts are enveloped in a sea of beauty.
My eyes fall upon your visage: a true beauty.
As winds inevitably wear away the stone,
Time wears away at life's ethereal beauty.
As a photograph snapshots a moment in time,
My memory encapsulates all your beauty.
At the end, in the final gasp of the dying
We find a melancholic moment of beauty.
In this tempestuous screaming match with my love
I'm burned by a blistering, passionate beauty.
As long as I have strength to continue forward
I will fight endlessly to protect all beauty.

P.S: Salt Lake Speaks was a poetry event I participated in in September 2025. I am posting the poems I read as I may have made minor changes and corrections to the original poem. Original here.

What is beauty?
The crimson petals of a rose?
A brilliant sunset on a warm summer’s day?
What is beauty?
The blisters from a hard day’s work?
The crowd of people gathered at your funeral?
Is beauty even something we can truly know?
Something we can point at and say,
“That is beauty.”
Or is it kept in our mind, in our thoughts, alone?
Wrapped up in a subjective thought,
“That is beauty.”
